Fish from the Main can be consumed without concern. Nevertheless, there are significant challenges, including the structural deficits of the local river and fish protection. Fish can to this day not migrate upstream or downstream. Dams and weirs need to be heavily modified so that fish can migrate again.<\/p><p>Today, there are 34 fish species living in the Frankfurt Main! Every year, we examine the fish population using modern methods. After the mass occurrence of invasive  gobies, which entered the Main via the Danube Canal, we can today evaluate that gobies are no longer the most common species. Instead, native fish such as roach and bleak are now predominant again. Predatory fish, especially pike-perch, are reproducing very successfully in the Frankfurt Main. For several years, pike have also been naturally reproducing again in the river. This has given us excellent insights into present fish species and their reproduction. We are well aware of the deficits and problems of the water body. Additionally, we support bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s theses on limnological and fish ecological topics. For example, the European catfish in the Main has been thoroughly studied regarding growth, parasites, and stomach contents with great success.<br \/>We are well aware of all fish ecological
